Simon Health Sciences (SHS) is dedicated to training individuals with a commitment to pursuing management careers in health science industries at the University of Rochester's Simon Graduate School of Business Administration. SHS provides students with the managerial and technical foundation to pursue careers and share knowledge and experiences with mentors, research faculty and executive advisors in a variety of areas, including:
Biotechnology Medical Devices Pharmaceuticals |
Consulting Venture Capital |
Healthcare Administration Insurance | Full-time and part-time M.B.A. students interested in the healthcare industry complete the Health Sciences Management Concentration as a supplement to their required coursework. Program faculty work with students to customize their course selection based on professional experiences and career objectives. All M.B.A. students are encouraged to personalize their academic experience by choosing from the fourteen concentrations offered at Simon...most select two or three! The Simon School has also recently designed a one-year part-time Masters in Medical Management (M.M.M.) program, to provide regional physicians and medical professionals with the management tools to independently manage their healthcare organizations and practices. This program teaches practical business skills needed to formulate business plans, develop competitive strategies and manage the operations and employees of a medical practice.
Faculty have established reputations in a number of areas of expertise through cutting-edge research in the healthcare and life science industries. Students have the opportunity to learn from research faculty that are actively serving as consultants and advisors to national firms, goverment agencies, and professional organizations.
SHS is composed of more than 30 M.B.A., 30 M.M.M. students and 21 executives from leading healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and consulting firms. Students attend executive seminars, corporate presentations, and brown-bag discussions to help them prepare for interviews, internships, and future managerial positions in the industry. Executive Advisory Board members frequently make presentations and meet with students one-on-one to share their advice and professional experiences. |
